Tips for Tie Down Use

RECOMMENDED STRAP ALIGNMENT FOR RACE CARS,
ANTIQUE or CLASSIC AUTOS AND MOST FOUR WHEELED VEHICLES

  1. Position vehicle on trailer.  Move vehicle as necessary to balance trailer for Tongue Weight Distribution.

  2. Attach one (1) pair of Tie-Downs to front end of vehicle at a point below suspension system and in a manner preventing strap movement.
    (a) Attach Ratchet end of Tie-Downs to trailer bed attachment hardware.
    (b) Activate ratchet and apply equal tension to each Tie-Down strap.

  3. Attach one (1) pair of Tie-Downs to rear end of vehicle at a point below suspension system and in a manner similar to that described above for the front end of the vehicle.

NOTES:

Webbing should be protected against contact with sharp edged parts, hot surfaces and acids.  Do Not Use Tie-Down if webbing is cut, frayed or damaged.

To achieve tie-down load rating, all strap components must be in straight line with the direction of pull.

Hardware should have load rating equal to or greater than the rating of the Tie-Downs.

Criss-Crossing of the Tie-Downs should be used only when both ends of Tie-Down strap are securely locked in a fixed position to vehicle component and to trailer attachment point prohibiting Tie-Down movement

CAM BUCKLE OPERATION

TENSION -Pull Handhold Firmly. Cam will retain applied tension.
RELEASE -Depress Cam Lever to release strap tension.

RATCHET OPERATION

TENSION

Pull excess webbing through Ratchet Mandrel. Pump ratchet handle until webbing is properly tensioned with a minimum of (2) webbing wraps around Ratchet Mandrel. Close buckle handle to position shown.

RELEASE

Disengage "LOCKING LATCH" by rotate Ratchet Handle to over center-flat position. "Yank" one layer of webbing to release Ratchet Mandrel.

VINYL "S" HOOKS are applied to both ends of all M&R Motorcycle/ATV Tie-Downs , to protect your cycle's paint and chrome parts and your truck or trailer.

MINIMUM BREAK RATING (MBR) is the minimum tension load an assembly will restraint without failure, when in new-unused condition.

OVERALL LENGTH is the unit operating length when measured hook end to hook end.

M&R TIE-DOWN RATINGS are based on the rating of the weakest component. Higher webbing and sewing patters are provided for added abuse and abrasion resistant characteristics. Care should be taken to ensure that the appropriate rated assembly(s) is used for each load.

Position vehicle to be secured. Always chock wheels and use wheel tie-downs.
Attach one hook end to handlebar or frame member, where it will not slip.
Attach opposing hook end to trailer, truck or van attachment hardware hardware, i.e. eyebolt, "D" Ring, in manner that will not slip.

NOTE: Hardware must have equal or greater strength than strap.

Pull excess webbing through mandrel. Pump ratchet to desired tension, (minimum two full turns of webbing). Close handle flat against ratchet to engage safety lock.
To achieve maximum rated capacity, all hooks and buckle must be in line with direction of pull.
Protect webbing from sharp edges, hot surfaces and acids. DO NOT use if webbing is cut, frayed or damaged.
Tie-Downs are not to be used for lifting, towing or personal restraints.
